Obama announces for 2012

This morning, without much surprise, President Obama announced he will seek reelection.

Back in January 2007, when Obama announced his presidential candidacy for the first time, I posted a note on this blog saying that I supported him and predicted he would win (it's good to be correct from time to time).

So let me do this again. In case it isn't obvious, I remain a strong supporter of President Obama, I think our country and the world is better today because of his leadership and I'm looking forward to seeing him in office for a second term.

I write this more to make my views transparent to readers than anything else. This remains a blog focused on Latin American politics and foreign policy. With rare exception, I will only discuss US presidential politics as it relates to the hemisphere and otherwise write about my usual topics.

I realize I have a wide spectrum of readers from hardcore conservatives who have never liked this president to some ultra-liberals who are disappointed with the administration's policies to people in the region who really don't care much about US politics and many others in between. You're all wonderful. Thank you for reading and caring about Latin American politics.

And, of course, thanks to those who agree with me too. See you at the victory party.

Now, back to Latin America issues.
