I talked this week with Darrel Kohlhorst, general manager at the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant, and he affirmed that things look stable for the rest of Fiscal Year 2011.
"It looks like it is," he said. "What we've been told now that a budget has been passed is that we will have a new baseline for 2011 in early June. Because the agencies have to take the dollars back and . . . go through what we call the site splits (allocating money by site).
''But everything we've seen, working with NNSA, has told us that all the things -- our mission, the UPF and all the things that are critical to us -- are continuing to be supported, and so we're kind of excited about that. But we don't know the details yet."
