Panama trade deal ready

The White House announced yesterday that the implementation of a Tax Information Exchange Agreement means that Panama Trade Promotion Agreement is now ready for Congressional approval. Fact sheets were posted on the website here.

This comes just two weeks after the announcement of an Action Plan for a trade agreement with Colombia. That action plan contains a number of items for Colombia to complete over the coming months, including specific actions on labor rights. As Colombia completes those, it sets up the Congressional vote during the summer or fall of this year.
