Y-12 pay raises

I asked B&W Y-12 spokesman David Keim if the contractor had advised employees about the potential for raises under the Dept. of Energy's revised pay-freeze mandate, and here's what he said:

"Yes, we told employees about the new pool of available funding. We continue to support Secretary Chu's efforts to ensure that the Department of Energy is doing its part in these tough economic times. The adjustment authorized by the Secretary will allow us to bring our standards for compensation closer in line with those of our civilian federal coworkers under the President's federal pay freeze. DOE has designated the money for promotions and special adjustments, and we're working quickly to determine the best way to distribute that funding. We expect to finalize and begin implementing the plan this month. More details will be shared with employees as soon as they're available."
